About me

I am currently a Consultant Neurosurgeon in the NHS at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Scotland and have subspeciality interests in neuro-oncology, spinal surgery and CSF disorders. I am particularly interested in all aspects of minimally invasive cranial and spinal surgery. I believe in utilizing multimodality technology including microscopy, image guidance and endoscopy to improve patient comfort and surgical safety wherever possible.

I trained at St Andrews and Manchester medical schools before completing Neurosurgical training in the North West of England. I subsequently completed a Fellowship in Neuro-oncology surgery at the Walton Centre in Liverpool before starting my Consultant post in Aberdeen in 2015.

I am currently clinical lead for Neuro-oncology in the region and participate in cranial and spinal MDT weekly. My research interests are currently focused on utilising ultrasound in cranial and spinal surgeries as well as CSF leak disorders.

Neuro-oncology/brain tumours; Spinal surgery; Lumbar Microdiscectomy; Anterior Cervical Discectomy; Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) disorders; Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) leak; Chiari Malformation; Hydrocephalus
