About me

I am a BACP accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist, with 14 years experience and I qualified as an EMDR practitioner, in February 2022.

I care warmly about supporting people and provide an EMDR or integrative approach which means I combine various therapy approaches and adapt how I work to suit individual needs and encourage change that is right for each person.

I work relationally and will offer you warmth, time and space to untangle your feelings and thoughts and notice your bodily experience.

I will assist you to develop a better understanding of yourself and how varying factors might be affecting your wellbeing.

Factors that could be impacting on your happiness and life satisfaction might include, internal self-conflict, excessive self-criticism and unresolved loss or trauma. I combine a self compassion element to therapy as many people regularly apply harsh judgement to themselves.

Sometimes old patterns can be unconsciously repeated from the past, therefore, understanding the origins of feelings and responses can empower you to approach life differently.

EMDR explanation:-
Old disturbing memories can be stored in the brain in isolation and get locked into the nervous system with the original images, sounds, thoughts and feelings.
Old distressing material just keeps getting triggered over and over and prevents healing from taking place.

In another part of your brain, you already have the information you need to resolve this problem; the two just cannot connect. Once EMDR starts, a linking takes place and new information can come to mind and resolve the ‘old’ problems. This may be what happens spontaneously in REM or dream sleep when eye movements help to process unconscious material.

If you would like to know more, I look forward to hearing from you. I offer a 15 minute initial telephone chat to discuss your therapy needs.

I offer time-limited therapy or longer-term psychotherapy for an extensive range of issues.

Please note; I work with adults only.
