About me
I have been a clinical massage & Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) therapist since 2004, specialising in all types of lymphoedema, chronic oedemas, lipoedema, Pre-surgical preparation, post-surgical recovery and disorders of the lymphatic system.
I am highly skilled, empathic and committed to delivering exemplary care for my patients. I work closely with consultants, surgeons and healthcare professionals to safely prepare patients for surgery, speed recovery or to stabilise and maintain chronic conditions. I have extensive experience with complex cases and with many types of short & long-term surgical recovery; oncology, orthopaedic, reconstructive and cosmetic procedures.
I use state-of-the-art diagnostic technology to measure and track progress. I use Bioimpedence Spectrometry L-DEX (Sozo) and Tissue Dielectric Constant LymphScanner to map and monitor lymphoedema from the first appointment.
I provide Manual Lymphatic Drainage massages (enhanced with Deep Oscillation Therapy if appropriate), Myofascial Release and Negative Pressure therapy for cording, scarring, fibrosis and adhesions. I also teach therapists how to use Kinesiology Tape for the lymphatic system, specifically to reduce lymphoedemas and enhance post-surgical recovery.
I treat axillary Web Syndrome/ Cording. I provide Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy for lymphoedema reduction, plus a full measuring, ordering and fitting service for all compression garments and devices to reduce and maintain lymphoedema and chronic oedemas.
I also offer monitoring and early detection services for those at risk of developing lymphoedema after cancer treatments.
Alongside my private practice, I have always studied and worked within different clinical environments. From 2004-2008, I delivered therapies for an HIV charity, where I became a trustee and formulated and delivered HIV awareness training. I also worked for a local cancer charity. From 2008-2011, I was a complementary therapist in Cancer Services at University College London hospital (UCLH), while studying a BSc (Hons) Health Sciences; remedial massage & neuromuscular therapy. I then studied an MSc in Complementary Medicine, which was completed in 2015, while working as a clinical massage therapist for Horder Healthcare, who specialise in Orthopaedic surgeries. Since 2017, I have worked at Purity Bridge Plastic Surgery clinic, in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, as the in-house MLD therapist.
I am a member of the British Lymphology Society, MLDuk, Lymphoedema Support Network, International Lipoedema Association, Lipedema World Alliance and Lipoedema UK. I regularly write academic articles, book chapters/ excerpts and present at international Lymphoedema and Lipoedema conferences about my work. Since January 2023, I have been the Clinical Therapy Advisor for Lipoedema UK, where I run their Healthcare Professionals' Forum.
