About me
I am a Urological Surgeon with a special interest and expertise in cancer diagnosis, management and surgery.
I graduated from the University College, Cork, Ireland and trained in Ireland, England and Scotland achieving FRCS (Ed) and FRCS (Glas) in 1989. Following the West of Scotland General Surgical Rotation I specialised in Urology and performed my higher degree research and subsequent thesis in Stirling Royal Infirmary affiliated to Edinburgh University and the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN and was awarded an MD in 1993.
My specialist interests are in Uro-Oncology with particular reference to prostate cancer. I have initiated a programme on optimising bone health in prostate cancer patients, especially those about to start hormone treatment. I have continued my research interests throughout my career and continue to publish on a regular basis.
