Mr Alistair Slesser is a Consultant Surgeon at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, The BMI Bishops Wood and the BMI Clementine Churchill Hospital. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London.
He chairs the Abdominal Wall Reconstruction MDT at the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and is a core member of the Colorectal Cancer MDT.
He qualified from St Bart's and the Royal London Medical School in 2003. He gained his MSc in Surgical Sciences as well as a Doctorate in 2009 and 2016 from Imperial College London. In 2016 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. Prior to becoming a consultant he undertook training at St. Mark's Hospital, London, the Royal Marsden Hospital, London and spent time working as a registrar in Brisbane, Australia.
Mr Alistair Slesser has published over 30 peer reviewed publications. He also maintains an interest in training and teaching. He is a medical school undergraduate firm lead for Imperial College, London and is actively involved in surgical simulation teaching for London higher surgical trainees.
Areas of interest
Mr Alistair Slesser is highly skilled at minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic). The majority of his colorectal cancer resections are performed using this approach. He deals regularly with colorectal cancer as well as advanced colorectal cancers. Areas of regular practice include laparoscopic Colorectal cancer resections; TAMIS/TEMS early rectal cancer resections; Diverticular disease resections; Inflammatory bowel disease surgery; Pilonidal disease surgery; Prolapse surgery; Haemorrhoid surgery; THD haemorrhoidopexy; simple and complex fistula in ano surgery; surgery for anal fissure; Colonoscopy; Colonoscopy and polypectomy; Gastroscopy; Laparoscopic cholecystectomy for Gallstone disease; Complex Incisional Hernia surgery; Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repairs; Skin lesion excision
