About me

I am a person-centred counsellor with over 23 years experience of counselling people in various settings. As well as being in private practice for 18 years, I worked in the NHS as a counsellor for 13 years. I have also worked in a Women's Centre, College of FE and as a volunteer for CRUSE bereavement care. My experience is wide and varied, but find most people seek counselling when they are feeling anxious, low in mood or having relationship problems, for many different reasons. My approach involves helping people become more self-aware about how they function emotionally and help them discover what they need to do change and feel more positive and emotionally regulated.

Areas of interest

I work with anyone over the age of 16 with no upper age limit.

I have experience of working with a varied range of presenting problems including:
Depression; Anxiety; Bereavement; Relationship problems; Post-natal depression; Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & Fibromyalgia; Childhood abuse, emotional, physical and sexual; Work place stress; Stress; Low self-esteem/lack of self confidence; Gender identity; Couple counselling.

As a person centred counsellor I work to establish a therapeutic relationship that facilitates self-awareness and emotional growth. When appropriate I offer suggestions of ways to help manage anxiety or work in creative ways when desired.
