I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, qualified since 1999. (HCPC registered). I have worked in NHS and charitable settings, and in private practice. I also have extensive experience in academia as a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader on a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology programme.
I offer psychological therapy for adults with a range of emotional and physical health concerns. This includes, anxiety, panic, stress, depression, bereavement, low self esteem and relationship issues. I have an interest in the psychological impact of cancer. This includes support with diagnosis and treatment, changes in body image, managing change in interpersonal relationships, loss, bereavement and end of life care. I help clients navigate through the process of adjustment post treatment, living with remission, improving quality of life and returning to work.
My therapeutic approach is integrative. I primarily work within a Cognitive Therapy framework, whilst recognising the role of psychodynamic relational perspectives and other psychological theories where relevant. My philosophy is complemented by contemporary approaches in CBT, including mindfulness and compassion therapies.
Areas of interest
General and specific anxiety problems; depression; bereavement; low self esteem; stress; interpersonal relationship issues; general physical health and cancer.
