About me

Ms Jyotsna Pundir is a Consultant Gynaecologist with special interest in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, Polycystic ovary, Menstrual disorders and Menopause.

Ms Jyotsna Pundir is a Consultant Gynaecologist, Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine, Surgery and Assisted conception at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine and Honorary Senior Lecture, at the Queen Mary University London.

She has more than 20 years of experience as a gynaecologist and has more than 10 years of experience in subfertility and assisted conception. She has been trained at UK’s prestigious tertiary fertility units including the Assisted Conception Unit, Guys and St’ Thomas’ as Clinical research fellow and the Centre for Reproductive Medicine, St Bartholomew’s Hospital as RCOG accredited Sub-speciality fellow.

She manages all aspects of subfertility, including assessment of ovarian reserve; assessment of tubal patency with hysteron-contrast-sonography; assisted conception cycles of ovulation induction, IUI, IVF, ICSI, and social egg freezing; and manages male factor infertility including surgical sperm retrieval. She performs gynaecological and early pregnancy scans including 3D and aqua scans; and has a particular interest in minimal access surgery, both laparoscopic and hysteroscopic.

Apart from sub-fertility, Jyotsna has special interest in managing women with polycystic ovary syndrome, menstrual disorders and menopausal symptoms. She also looks after menopausal symptoms in women who are cancer survivors and women who are BRCA gene carriers and had prophylactic surgery.

Jyotsna is passionate about teaching, training and research in her field. She regularly teaches medical students and post-graduate doctors and trains health care professionals at all levels.

Jyotsna believes in practicing evidence-based medicine and has been actively engaged in research. Apart from publishing over 35 papers in peer-reviewed journals, she has authored books, “Evidence based Algorithms – Obstetrics”, “Evidence based Algorithms – Gynaecology”, which are best sellers and has been translated in Turkish and Polish. She has recently published another book on “Part 1 MRCOG Revision notes” by Cambridge Press. She organises internationally collaborated webinars and courses. She is often invited at national and international conference as keynote speaker on recent advances in reproductive medicine.

She is currently pursuing PHD at the Queen Mary University, London on the Role of Inositols in women with Polycystic ovary syndrome.

She is Menopause care lead for the Barts Trust and Research and Training lead for Centre for reproductive medicine.

Jyotsna is passionate about delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based care to patients. She is very keen to educate, empower and involve women and couples in decision making in every aspect of their care.

She is also fluent in Hindi and Telugu (a south Indian language)
Outside of work she loves cooking and gardening and practices mindfulness.
