About me

Mr Ganesan is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon, specialising in the diagnosis and management of most aspects of lower spinal pathology including low back pain, sciatica, spondylosis, spinal injuries, disc prolapse, stenosis, sacroiliac joint and coccygeal pain. Whilst most back disorders are managed along conservative management, interventions and surgery are indicated when such therapy fails. The various spinal procedures he offers include spinal injections (ie facet blocks, lumbar nerve blocks, caudal epidural injections, coccyx injection etc), micro discectomy, spinal decompressions, spinal stabilisation and fusion procedures.

He qualified in 1999 and commenced his orthopaedic training in the year 2000, accumulating over 18 years of experience in orthopaedic surgery and spinal surgery. Having received training both in India and the United Kingdom, he has been awarded two best outgoing student awards through his career and has completed Masters degrees in Orthopaedic Surgery with distinctions. He completed his fellowship in spinal surgery at Southampton and joined the orthopaedic department as a consultant in orthopaedic surgery with a special interest in spinal surgery at East Sussex Healthcare Trust in 2015.

His commitments include providing care to injured patients in the emergency setting, and he offers when indicated surgical fixation of fractures including hip replacements. He is involved in the training of trainee surgeons and is an instructor on the advanced trauma and life support programme.
