About me
I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2000. Since then I have worked in a range of adult mental health settings and have considerable experience of helping people with varying needs and difficulties.
Prior to training as a Clinical Psychologist I qualified as a Social Worker and worked as a Probation Officer for nine years. Within the NHS I have worked both as a clinician and senior manager and leader. I am a qualified coach (ILM Level 5) and have a particular interest in using both coaching and therapeutic models to help people to effect positive change. I offer assessment, formulation and therapy based on a detailed and agreed understanding of the individual's needs.
Areas of interest
I have training and experience in a range of therapeutic models including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, Cognitive Behavioural, Dialectical Behavioural, Systemic, Psychodynamic and Recovery based therapies.I strongly believe that understanding and change happens within a supportive, collaborative therapeutic relationship. My approach is to develop a shared understanding of the individual's context, needs, goals, strengths and difficulties in order to develop a formulation and plan for change, utilising a range of methods most appropriate for them.
I have particular expertise in the following areas:
*Relationship difficulties
*Work related stress
*Depression
*Low self esteem
*Consequences of childhood trauma
*Struggles with anger
