About me

Dr Aim�e Brame is a Consultant Respiratory Physician with specialist expertise in the investigation and management of breathlessness, chronic cough, asthma, pulmonary hypertension and complex respiratory conditions. She is also trained in General Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine, bringing a broad clinical perspective to patients with unexplained or multisystem symptoms.

She is an NHS Consultant at the Royal Brompton Hospital, part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, and has extensive experience in the assessment of patients with complex respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.

Dr Brame has a particular interest in unexplained breathlessness, including patients whose symptoms persist despite apparently normal initial investigations. Her clinical practice encompasses advanced respiratory diagnostics, cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET), pulmonary vascular disease, right heart dysfunction, post-viral respiratory symptoms and recovery following critical illness.

She takes a comprehensive, individualised approach to assessment, combining detailed clinical evaluation with appropriate investigations to establish a diagnosis and develop a clear management plan. She is happy to provide second opinions for patients with persistent or unexplained respiratory symptoms.

Dr Brame graduated in Medicine from the University of Birmingham and completed specialist training in Respiratory and General Medicine, followed by Intensive Care Medicine. She holds a PhD in Translational Medicine and Therapeutics from the University of Cambridge and the European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine.

She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine and has published original research, scientific abstracts and book chapters. She remains actively involved in clinical research, education and the development of specialist services.

Dr Brame was the General Medical Adviser for the BBC Two television series Diagnosis Detectives and regularly contributes expert medical commentary to the national media.
