About me
Mr Vittorio Russo is a leading Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon offering specialist care for the full spectrum of spinal conditions.
Mr Russo has extensive experience and subspecialist expertise in spinal tumour surgery, managing both primary and metastatic tumours involving the spinal cord, nerves, vertebral column, and surrounding structures. He also has recognised expertise in complex reconstructive spinal surgery for degenerative spinal disorders, spinal deformity, cranio-cervical junction pathology, and complex revision spinal surgery. He is committed to delivering accurate diagnoses, clear communication, and highly personalised treatment plans, offering a full range of advanced surgical and non-surgical options tailored to each patient's individual needs.
Uniquely dual-trained in both neurosurgical and orthopaedic spinal surgery, Mr Russo completed advanced fellowships at leading centres across the UK and USA, including London, Oxford, and New Orleans. This dual expertise enables him to offer the full spectrum of modern spinal care, from microsurgical and minimally invasive techniques through to robotic-assisted procedures, motion-preserving surgery such as cervical disc replacement, and complex open reconstructive spinal surgery.
His private practice is based at the Cleveland Clinic London and his NHS practice is at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square (UCLH). He holds an Honorary Associate Professorship at University College London.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Russo is actively involved in research and education, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and regular presentations at major international spine conferences. He has received multiple academic honours, including awards from the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies, the British Association of Spine Surgeons and Scoliosis Society.
