About me

Mr Vittorio Russo is a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon specialising in neck and back pain, sciatica, arm pain and a wide range of spinal conditions. He provides fast assessment and clear, personalised treatment plans, helping patients return to normal function as quickly and safely as possible.

He offers both non-surgical and advanced surgical treatments, including minimally invasive techniques where appropriate. Most patients are treated without the need for surgery, and when surgery is required, all options are carefully explained to ensure the most appropriate and least invasive approach is chosen.

Common conditions treated include neck pain, back pain, sciatica, arm pain due to nerve compression, slipped discs and spinal stenosis. He also manages patients with more complex spinal disorders requiring specialist assessment.

Mr Russo has particular expertise in spinal tumours, spinal trauma, complex spinal reconstruction, and revision spinal surgery for patients requiring further treatment following previous spinal operations.

He sees private patients at Cleveland Clinic London and is also based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, where he manages a large NHS practice at one of the UK's leading specialist neuroscience centres.

He is dual trained in neurosurgical and orthopaedic spinal surgery, having completed specialist fellowships in leading centres in the UK and USA, including the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London, the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, and LSU in New Orleans.

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Russo is an Honorary Associate Professor at the Institute of Neurology (UCL), and has published extensively in international journals. He has presented his work at major international meetings and has received awards including the Best Podium Presentation at the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies and the Presidents' Travelling Fellowship from the British Scoliosis Society and the British Association of Spine Surgeons.
