About me
Mr David Whitehead is a Consultant ENT Surgeon specialising in facial plastic surgery, nasal surgery, complex and awake sinus surgery and skull base surgery.
David’s expertise is aesthetic and functional plastic surgery of the nose including reconstruction.
He has further expertise in complex sinus disease and anterior skull base surgery.
He graduated as a doctor from Guy’s & St.Thomas’ Hospital in 1996 and qualified as a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2012 having undertaken his postgraduate training in London. After completing his training, he undertook an advanced international fellowship in facial plastic surgery included nasal reconstruction, advanced rhinology and anterior skull base surgery.
His particular expertise is facial plastic surgery of the nose and face with an emphasis on rhinoplasty. He has extensive experience in the most complex revisions and reconstructions following trauma, surgery and cancer.
His use of cutting-edge technology is substantial, and he has been routinely using ultrasonic piezo rhinoplasty instruments for some time with advanced 3D photographic imaging of the face.
His expertise in endoscopic minimally invasive sinus surgery includes awake sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty and Clarifix cryosurgery. David recruited the very first patients to be treated with minimally invasive sinus balloons in the UK and he was the first surgeon in the world outside of the USA to use Clarifix to treat recalcitrant chronic rhinitis. He has been a contributing member of NHS Skull Base MDT’s managing complex anterior skull base pathology in adults and children.
He has spent the last 24 years within the NHS and has over 19 years-experience in Otolaryngology, Paediatric Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery. He has been a substantive consultant for several years.
