About me

I'm a Clinical Psychologist with 20 years of experience, specialising in supporting your mind and mood in motherhood. I work with women navigating the often complex experience of motherhood during pregnancy, early parenthood, and even when the children have left home!

I founded my clinical practice Fortitude Mums, to help mothers build emotional strength, self-trust and a life they enjoy living in. Many of the women I work with are highly capable, thoughtful professionals who are used to functioning well in demanding roles, yet find themselves feeling unsettled, overwhelmed, or unlike themselves..

At Fortitude Mums we provide a comprehensive consultation enabling us to work out the triggers, patterns and symptoms causing you distress. I will then tailor a therapy plan drawing on the best approach for you. Throughout the therapy experience I will seek your feedback to ensure the process is what you need it to be.

I aim to offer a space where your experiences are understood without judgement and where tools and techniques which are proven to work are applied, so you can see the change you want.

My therapy approach is grounded in evidence-based approaches, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). This allows me to support both present-day challenges such as anxiety, burnout, low mood and identity shift, as well as the impact of past experiences and traumas (such as loss and abuse) that may be shaping how women feel and respond in motherhood. When required other therapy approaches such as compassion focussed therapy will also be used.

When needed, I bring a neurodiversity-informed perspective to my work, shaped in part by my own experience of ADHD. This helps me to recognise and support differences in attention, emotional processing, and energy, particularly for women who may feel they don't quite fit conventional expectations.

Specialising in motherhood also means that I have particular experience working with birth and breastfeeding trauma, life changing injury following birth, intrusive thoughts of harm regarding children, post natal depression, relationship struggle or breakdown, supporting women through divorce and separation, adult survivors of abuse and more.

My clients say they appreciate that my work also focuses on the body-mind connection too, we use the breath, a calm office and a hot cuppa to enable you pause and reconnect with your body during sessions. We also bear in mind the impact of your hormones on your mind and mood, whether that is your typical cycle, post birth adjustments or perimenopause.

Working with me feels both professional and human, I will provide a tailor-made plan helping you gain clarity, feel understood, and move forward with greater confidence and self-trust in yourself.

I continue to enjoy working with a number of women who aren't, or don't plan to be mothers too. Do get in touch if you would like to work with me relating to issues of mind and mood as these are common to all women, not just mums.
