About me

Dr Vasileios Panoulas is a consultant interventional cardiologist at Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals since 2016. He is the Director of coronary intervention of Guy'S and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and honorary senior clinical lecturer at Imperial College London since 2016. He has in the top 3 interventional cardiologist worldwide in the prestigious TCT Linnermeier award in 2020 and is a recepient of a National Clinical Excellence award in the UK for his academic and clinical contributions.
He has a clinical expertise that encompasses both general and interventional cardiology. He has published over 250 peer reviewed articles and is a member of several cardiology journal editorial boards.

He underwent his core medical training at Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals and his cardiology core training at Hammersmith Hospital, where he was appointed as a National Heart and Lung Institute (NIHR) academic clinical fellow (2010-2013). He also undertook an interventional cardiology fellowship at San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Milan, Italy (2013-2014) and subsequently was a North-West London interventional fellow for two years at Hammersmith Hospital (2014-2016), Imperial College NHS Trust. From 2014-2016 he was an NIHR Walport clinical lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London.

Areas of interest

Dr Vasileios Panoulas has a special interest in complex coronary angioplasty, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and percutaneous mechanical assist devices for treatment of acute cardiogenic shock. He has performed over 3000 PCIs in his career with the majority of them being complex and nearly 900 TAVI procedures with excellent outcomes. He is a proctor for Medtronic and J&j impella and runs several educational courses.
