About me

Mr. Dario Inzerillo is a highly respected consultant ophthalmic surgeon, renowned both in the UK and internationally for his extensive experience and expertise in ophthalmology. His principal clinical interests include refractive cataract surgery and the diagnosis and management of retinal conditions such as Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Diabetic Retinopathy, Retinal Vein Occlusion and Central Serous Retinopathy. He is also highly experienced in the administration of intravitreal injections and the application of various retinal laser treatments.

Since 2005, Mr. Inzerillo has held consultant-level positions in London. In 2015, he joined the Eye Unit at University Hospital Southampton, where he continues to practise with a focus on cataract surgery and medical retina. He currently leads the department's intravitreal injection service, delivering treatments for wet AMD, diabetic maculopathy, and other retinal diseases.

Mr. Inzerillo also serves as the department's governance lead for ophthalmology, reflecting his long-standing commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence. His work has earned him outstanding patient feedback over the years, testament to the quality of care he and his team provide.

Beyond his clinical work in the UK, Mr. Inzerillo has a strong track record of supporting charitable ophthalmic initiatives in underserved regions across Africa, Asia, and Central and South America, contributing to sight-saving treatments in areas of greatest need.

Areas of interest

Mr Inzerillo offers personalized treatment plans including Argon laser or Intravitreal Injections for AMD, Diabetes and Vein occlusions, or Photo-Dynamic Therapy (PDT) for Central Serous Retinopathy, depending on the most appropriate approach for each patient. As a highly experienced Cataract surgeon, Mr. Inzerillo has extensive expertise in multifocal lens implants, helping patients achieve excellent vision with greater glasses' independence.
He also offers YAG Laser treatment for Posterior Capsular Opacities (secondary cataract) as well as Peripheral Iridotomies for Glaucoma. He provides private consultations and surgery at Spire Southampton Hospital, while continuing to operate within the NHS at Eye Unit Southampton and Lymington New Forest Hospital. Beyond his expertise in medical retina and cataract surgery, Mr. Inzerillo is an experienced general ophthalmologist, treating conditions such as glaucoma, dry and watery eyes, eye floaters, lid cysts.
