About me
If you are struggling with life, counselling provides you with an opportunity to make the changes you need to so you can live in a more fulfilling way. I believe that there are certain times when we can all find life overwhelming and full of obstacles. If you are suffering from depression, relationship issues, adoption issues, anxiety, distress and/or confusion it can help to talk things through with someone not connected to your situation. I offer counselling in a safe, confidential environment to help you explore difficult issues and choices.
I work from an Integrative-relational theoretical basis which means that I draw on a range of different theories to support my work. This enables me to tailor our session to what you need. I believe that it is the relationship between you and your counsellor that is fundamental in supporting you when you are distressed, and in helping you understand yourself and your relationships, enabling you to move forward. My priority is to create a warm, respectful, secure relationship where you can feel safe enough to explore and come to terms with whatever may be troubling you.
Areas of interest
I have experience of working with clients with a wide range of emotional issues, including relationship difficulties, family breakdown, low self-esteem, adoption, anxiety, depression, anger management and bereavement. I am a qualified Adoption Support Counsellor. I have been working in the counselling field since 2001: as part of an eating disorders multi-disciplinary team; as a volunteer at Childline and Samaritans; in the NHS and work place counselling; as a university student counsellor; and in private practice.
