About me
Mr Amit Bhalla, is a fellowship trained Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon who specialises in spinal surgery. He was appointed as a substantive consultant at University Hospital North Midlands & Royal County in October 2017. He completed his undergraduate training at University College London in 2005. During this time he also completed an intercalated BSc at the world renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore London, passing with honours. This work has been published and presented nationally and internationally.
Following his training in London, he gained a training number on the prestigious Oswestry & Stoke Orthoapedic training program, gaining CCT in summer of 2016. He then completed an AOA approved 1 year dedicated spinal fellowship in Brisbane Australia, prior to his appointment in the UK.
Mr Bhalla also holds a keen interest in education, having completed a masters in Surgical Education at Imperial College London in 2014. He is involved in training junior doctors and trainee surgeons in his NHS role.
Mr Bhalla specialises in degenerative conditions, spinal stenosis, deformity surgery, lower back pain, sciatica, spinal deformity, cervical/neck disorders, minimally invasive spinal surgery, tumours and all spinal trauma. He is also involved with the non-surgical management of spinal conditions with targetted phsyiotherapy, injections when necessary and patient education.
Mr Bhalla works in one of the busiest and most challenging trauma centres in the country with dedicated spinal trauma on call as a major trauma centre (MTC), which means he participates in multidisciplinary meetings (MDT) on a weekly basis, and is upto-date with current procedures, clinical governence, and best practice.
