About me

My name is Amy Woolston, I have been working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist since 2007. I have work with a range of clinical presentations including anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, relationship issues, trauma and perinatal mental health difficulties.
I have a particular interest in mental health during pregnancy, birth and the early years. I am also interested in attachment relationships and believe that understanding our own early relationships and experiences can give people the framework to move forward. I work with clients as individuals, collaboratively and at their own pace.

I am an eclective practitioner, drawing on a number of theoretical psychological models including compassion focussed therapy and attachment theory. I am qualified to deliver EMDR (eye movementdesensitisation reprocessing) therapy

Areas of interest

I have a special interest in working with new parents who have struggled with the transition to parenthood. I have considerable experience working with antenatal anxiety; postnatal anxiety; antenatal depression; postnatal depression; parental obsessive-compulsive difficulties; birth trauma; attachment disorders; bonding difficulties; complex trauma

I enjoy working with new parents who may be struggling to with the relationship with their baby. I help parents to understand the struggle, what kind of parent they want to be, and how they can get there.

Post traumatic stress disorder; trauma - trauma can happen at any time and to anyone. I am trained to help process trauma using EMDR to help people live a life free of post traumatic stress.
