About me
Mr Tim Parratt is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based at The Oaks Hospital and Colchester Hospital, where he serves as Head of Knee Surgery for the Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centreone of the UK's newest and largest orthopaedic units.
He is a Platinum-rated Bupa consultant and manages a high volume of patients, including complex cases and second opinions referred by other surgeons. His practice covers hip, knee and trauma surgery, with a particular focus on achieving excellent outcomes through modern, evidence-based techniques.
Mr Parratt has extensive experience in robotic-assisted knee surgery and is a highly experienced user of the CORI system. He is regularly invited to train other surgeons in this advanced technology, reflecting his expertise in the field.
Alongside his clinical work, he plays an active role in training the next generation of surgeons within the NHS. In recognition of his commitment to education, he was awarded 'Trainer of the Year' for the East of England region.
He is also actively involved in research, contributing to both national multi-centre studies and locally led projects aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Mr Parratt places great importance on building strong relationships with his patients. He believes in clear communication, shared decision-making, and providing the highest standard of personalised care, particularly when patients are considering surgery.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors. He has a longstanding interest in sport and previously played rugby at international level as a youth.
Areas of interest
I perform all types of knee surgery and primary hip surgery.
For hip replacements, I use all techniques and materials but the majority of my patients are offered uncemented total hip replacements using one of the top performing implants and bearing surfaces in all hip surgery.
For knee replacements, I perform partial knee replacements (unicompartmental and patello-femoral), total knee replacements and revision total knee replacements (replacing old failing implants or ones with problems).
I offer robotic assisted knee replacement surgeon, being an expert in this and one of few in the region.
I also perform keyhole surgery, meniscal surgery and ligament reconstructions such as ACL reconstruction and MPFL reconstruction for instability of the patella (kneecap).
However, not all orthopaedic conditions require surgery. In those non-operative problems, it is very important to investigate, confirm the problem and create a tailored management plan for that particular patient.
