About me
Aa Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge (UK), I have a broad range of responsibilities that encompass both clinical and research aspects of thoracic surgery. My particular area of expertise is in minimally invasive robotic surgery, as well as VATS uniportal and subxiphoid approaches. Additionally, I have extensive experience in lung transplant surgery.
My training in cardiothoracic surgery took place in Padua, Udine (Italy), Bristol (UK), Shanghai and Toronto. In November 2011, I began working as consultant thoracic surgeon in Udine where I developed the minimally invasive program for lung resections and thymectomies using VATS and robotic techniques. Between 2015 and 2016, I completed a fellowship at the Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, which allowed me to improve my clinical expertise in uniportal VATS segmental lung resections and to learn the uniportal VATS subxiphoid approach for lung resections.
From June 2016, I began working as a consultant thoracic surgeon at the Royal Papworth Hospital.
In July 2022, I undertook a one-year fellowship in lung transplant surgery at the Toronto General Hospital, which boasts the largest transplant program in the world.
Throughout my career, I have remained committed to enhancing patient outcomes and advancing the field of thoracic surgery through research and innovation and teaching. .
