About me

I have been working as an Independent Consultant for over five years now. Previously, I have over 20 years experience as a qualified Clinical Psychologist primarily in NHS settings.

This has enabled me to amass a vast array of therapy, leadership and management skills. I have worked for a number of NHS Trusts and with a number of Universities too in this time. Within my roles, I have held varied portfolios which included leading a number of successful service delivery projects and service changes.

As a person I remain absolutely committed to enabling people to recover from their mental health distress and work hard with individuals, their families and partners to achieve this.

I have extensive therapy skills which I have amassed by working in a range of mental health settings and by working with individuals, couples and groups. I have worked with all mental health difficulties including, psychosis, trauma and abuse, anxiety. OCD, depression and personality disorder. I also now support a number of adults who are neuro-untypical, with their mental health needs. I will adjust typical therapy approaches to support people who are autistic and those with attention deficit.

I have supervised, mentored and offered support to countless people and I have been a trainer throughout my career. In terms of personal qualities, I believe I am an enthusiastic, conscientious and thoughtful individual who is highly motivated to support people with their mental health needs.

I have always been a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion and I was recently the Chair of the British Psychological Society Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce. This was a role close to my heart and produced a series of webinars on inclusion related topics that are free to view. In my therapy work, I embrace an approach that is mindful of trauma experienced in relation to marginalised identities.

i have worked extensively with all adult mental health disorders and conditions including Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, OCD, Psychosis, Borderline Personality Disorder and Complex Childhood Trauma and have particular interest in Trauma and Recovery from Trauma.
