About me

Dr Maier brings considerable experience, up-to-date knowledge and a compassionate and professional attitude to treating patients. He regularly receives positive feedback from patients and their families for the care that he provides, and the recovery he helps his patients to achieve.

He has wide experience, continued research activity, education and medical training, which allows him to stay up to date.

Dr Michael Maier is a senior consultant having worked in the NHS for the last 23 years. His clinical work has been acknowledged by a National Clinical Excellence Award. He now divides his time between the NHS and Priory Hospital Roehampton.

Dr Maier's service in the NHS has a current accreditation of ‘excellent’ by the Royal College of Psychiatrists through their Accreditation of In-patient Mental Health Services (AIMS). He is a general adult psychiatrist able to treat a range of disorders affecting those from 18 years to older age. He has specialist expertise in the treatment of schizophrenia, psychoses, bipolar affective disorder, depression and anxiety.

From 2007 to 2017, Dr Maier had the privilege of being appointed by Health Education England to be the first Head of the London School of Psychiatry, in charge of the delivery and quality of training for 1000 trainee psychiatrists in London.

He has also held a number of roles within his trust as Director of Medical Education and Director of Psychiatric Training and has dedicated considerable time to ensuring that the doctors they train are safe, knowledgeable, competent and compassionate.
