About me
Dr Tim Wang is Consultant in Clinical Biochemistry and Visiting Senior Fellow in Metabolic, Endocrine and Nutritional Medicine at the University of Surrey in Guildford. He studied Medicine at the University of Sheffield, UK and was a awarded a PhD following his work on cholesterol metabolism at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. After post-graduate training he was appointed as a Consultant to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and Frimley Park Hospital.
He is actively engaged in local and multi-centre research projects and enjoys teaching postgraduate students and trained doctors. He currently sits on the Steering Group for the National Audit of the Management of Familial Hypercholesterolaemia at the Clinical Effectiveness and Evaluation Unit at the Royal College of Physicians in London. He is the Specialty Lead for the Clinical Biochemistry laboratory in Guildford and Frimley, and directs the Cardiovascular Risk Factor Supra-regional Assay Service in Guildford. His clinical interests are in Metabolic Medicine in general, but he has particular interests in hyperlipidaemia (abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride), renal (kidney) stone disease and calcium metabolism.
