About me
Mr Kara a Consultant ENT Surgeon based in the North East of England. He graduated from the University of Aberdeen, undertaking his further ENT training across Scotland and the North of England, and has been practicing in ENT since 2005
Mr Kara's NHS practice is based at Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, and his private practice at The Spire Hospital Washington and The BMI Woodlands Hospital in Darlington.
He provides a general ENT service, dealing with a broad spectrum of adult and childrens' ENT conditions. He works closely with private Audiologists, Balance therapists and Speech & Language Therapists to provide a full spectrum of care.
Mr Kara has a subspecialty interest in nasal conditions and is the Lead Rhinologist in his department, dealing with allergies, complex/revision sinus surgery, nasal polyps, nasal blockage/deformity due to trauma and deviated nasal septums. He also conducts dedicated Paediatric clinics, focusing predominantly on common childhood problems such as hearing loss, tonsillitis and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA).
Mr Kara offers private clinic consultations for children, and if surgery is required, he will carry this out at the local NHS Hospital.
Having previously held posts both as Departmental Clinical Lead and also Clinical Governance Lead, Mr Kara is enthusiastic about adopting innovative techniques to improve the patient experience and maintains a strong focus on patient safety. He is a firm believer that this can only be achieved through open and honest communication with patients.
He ensures that patients understand their condition and the proposed treatment options available to them, and finds that patients who are better informed throughout the process tend to experience better surgical outcomes.
