About me

I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist with over 20 years of medical experience. I specialise in conditions affecting the digestive system, nutrition and endoscopy procedures.

I work in both the NHS and private sector. I have been a Consultant at Royal Derby Hospital since 2014. I also see private patients at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital.

I am the Endoscopy Training Lead at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. I train and support healthcare professionals in carrying out endoscopy procedures. I also lead the familial cancer service. This service helps people with a family history of cancer. I work with genetic specialists to assess your risk and plan your care.

I diagnose and treat a wide range of digestive conditions, including:

Acid reflux and indigestion
Coeliac disease (a condition where the body reacts to gluten)
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), which causes abdominal pain and changes in bowel habits
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis
I have a strong interest in long?term digestive health. I support you in managing ongoing conditions and improving your quality of life.

I am highly experienced in endoscopy procedures, including:

Gastroscopy (a test to look inside your food pipe and stomach)
Flexible sigmoidoscopy (a test to look at the lower part of the bowel)
Colonoscopy, including bowel cancer screening (a test to examine the whole bowel)
I also have a specialist interest in clinical nutrition. This includes food intolerance and how diet can affect your health and wellbeing.

I completed my specialist training in Gastroenterology and General Medicine in the Midlands. I also hold a Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Roehampton.

I am an accredited endoscopy trainer. I am actively involved in teaching and training healthcare professionals.

My aim is to provide clear advice and effective care. I will work with you to understand your condition and help you feel informed and supported throughout your treatment.
