About me

Mr Tahir Farooq is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Reconstructive Surgeon working for King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
He graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 2007 and completed his basic training in the North West Thames (London) before commencing ophthalmic specialist training in Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Having undertaken his specialist registrar training across many hospitals in Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Hereford and Walsall, he has gained an extensive range of ophthalmic experience.
With a keen interest in research and teaching, he has published in peer review journals and is actively involved in undergraduate medical student mentoring for the University of Birmingham. To this end he is also the Founder and President of the Midland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery which regularly holds meetings, presentations and teaching sessions for Ophthalmologists of all levels of training.
He has completed intensive Oculoplastic training in Birmingham Midland Eye Centre and Wolverhampton New Cross Hospital including intensive Oculoplastic Fellowships at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire and Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Mr Farooq offers plastic and reconstructive surgery for the periocular area including Eyelid Lift, Eyebrow Lift, Blepharoplasty (Eyebag Removal) Entropion/Ectropion (In/Out-Turning Eyelid) correction, Ptosis (Droopy Eyelid) correction (including Scarless Technique), Cancer Excision and Reconstruction, Chalazion Excision (Stye/Eyelid Cyst), Tear Duct Drainage Surgery - DCR surgery (including Scarless Endonasal DCR), Botox, Eyeball Removal (Enucleation/Evisceration/Exenteration), Eye Socket/Eyeball Reconstruction with Artificial Eye, Sutureless Cataract Surgery including Premium Lens implantation.
Laser treatment for Capsular Opacification, Glaucoma and Retina.
Mr Farooq also treats a wide range of general ophthalmological eye conditions.
