About me
I specialise in working with men. I work in person, face to face, near central Brighton. I also use zoom. I am a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist. I have over 20 years continual unbroken experience. I was awarded senior practitioner in 2018.
I specialise in men's issues; anger management; stress; self worth; depression, anxiety; relationships; loss, unwanted habits, sexual matters, and lgbtqi+ issues.
Negative feelings you might be having right now: frustrated, irritated, low, flat, lonely, worried, lost, trapped, anxious, furious, unwanted, used, self loathing, unappreciated, exploited, confused, a low priority, betrayed, left wanting to escape, left wanting some fairness.
The challenges you're facing: pressures and stress from family, partner, work, money, relationships, changes, expectations, moods, secrets, dilemmas, failures, isolation, end of tether, disconnection, absence of meaning, purpose and belonging.
Goals you want to achieve: direction, motivation, clarity, integration within self and among others, some get up and go, raised self worth, sharper knowledge of how you really operate and function so areas which benefit from better self management are anticipated and navigated successfully, ghosts laid to rest peacefully, discharge heavy unwanted feelings, left feeling lighter, lifted, brighter, contented, satisfied, self accepting with a clearer deeper sense of meaning, purpose and belonging.
My main specialism is better management of anger. I've been successfully working alongside men on this issue for over twenty years.
There are several approaches I use. One is to simply vent and off load known anger but in a safe and confidential space.
Another would be locating any hidden past anger from perhaps seemingly non-angry but resentful situations which somehow got beneath the skin and have remained.
There may well be some other hidden feelings beneath the anger that either the anger itself is sort of needed to mask, to protect us from feeling the emotional pain, or the hidden feelings were actually fueling the anger and causing the anger. Looking for and locating these hidden painful vulnerable feelings can make potentially huge differences and big changes within.
A separate approach would be using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I can help create skills, strategies and tactics tailored to you to better manage unwanted intense emotions.
For example, how to learn to recognise the earliest signs you are about to become angry so you have more time, valuable seconds maybe, to chose and prepare how to respond to the imminent rage and potential temper, so to swerve an eruption or harm to a relationship.
