About me

Dr Chen PhD MRCP is a Consultant Cardiologist who manages adult patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions. He is a specialist in managing patients with heart rhythm disorders. He firmly believes in a patient-centred approach, ensuring that patients are fully informed and involved in their care plan. He discusses available options following a complete assessment and takes particular care to explain all aspects of the consultation and treatment to his patients.

Dr Chen graduated from University College London Medical School with an additional First Class Honours BSc degree in Pharmacology. He undertook his cardiology specialist training at various prestigious hospitals in London, including specialist fellowships in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac devices at St George’s Hospital, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital and Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital where he has worked with world renowned experts.

He was awarded a PhD research degree in cardiovascular medicine by King’s College London for his research in the pioneering clinical role of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in optimising outcomes in the treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias.

Dr Chen has a number of research interests in the pioneering clinical role of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging to optimise outcomes in the treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias and advancing ablation and device therapy technologies. He believes an increasingly personalised approach in terms of arrhythmia risk stratification and cardiac pathology substrate assessment can lead to safer and more effective treatment. His research work was published in major international journals and presented at conferences throughout the world. He strives to be at the forefront of high quality arrhythmia service.

Areas of interest

Dr Chen sees and treats patients with palpitations, blackouts/syncope, chest pains, short of breath, vertigo/dizziness and high blood pressure. He performs coronary angiogram, echocardiogram and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. He performs complex catheter ablation procedures using the latest technologies, for all arrhythmias including SVT, atrial fibrillation (AF) and ventricular tachycardia. He is also an experienced high volume operator in implanting all types of cardiac devices including pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT).
