About me
As a clinical psychologist, I have had extensive training to a doctorate level, allowing me to draw on a number of therapeutic models and skills to help people with a range of mental health difficulties. In my practice, I use therapy models that have shown to be effective, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and tailor these to my clients' needs and goals.
No therapy works without a trusting relationship between the client and therapist, so I believe in providing a safe and supportive, non-judgmental space for clients to talk about their difficulties.
I have been working in the NHS for more than 10 years. I have been offering therapy to individuals and groups, and I have supervised and consulted to teams and individual staff members. I have also been involved in post-graduate teaching and have worked together with leading experts in CBT when I was completing my PhD at King's College London.
I have worked in primary care services, providing therapy for people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. I am currently working for the NHS South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust in a secondary care psychological therapies team, offering individual therapy to people who suffer from a range of mental health difficulties and trauma-related problems.
I am a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), validating my professional qualifications and my credibility as a competent and effective practitioner.
Areas of interest
I work with adults experiencing anxiety problems, such as panic, worry, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) or social anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as depression, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties or work related stress.
I have a special interest in helping people to reclaim their lives after traumatic events and have extensive experience in working with people suffering from PTSD and survivors of childhood abuse.
I further work with people who would like help with adjusting to significant life events, such as becoming parents, losing a loved one, retiring or adjusting to a medical condition. I also work with people who suffer from chronic medical conditions, such as chronic pain.
My approach is based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) as well as more recent evidence-based therapy approaches, such as Compassion-focused therapy, Schema therapy, and Mindfulness. Please see my website for more details.
