About me
I am interested in learning about the complexities of the human mind and understanding how ineffective ways of responding to our painful psychological content drive human behaviour and contribute to emotional distress. I believe that developing the ability to respond to our psychological pain and emotional distress in more adaptive ways, while making better choices aligned with our values, can enhance cognitive flexibility and emotionally resilience. This, in turn, can lead to a happier, more purposeful, and fulfilling life.
I specialise in evidence-based psychological therapies; namely, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT).
My style is based on pluralistic, humanistic, and relational approaches to therapy and counselling. This means that I value the therapeutic relationship as a significant vehicle for change and I see every person as a unique individual and tailor the treatment protocol to that individual's specific needs, while drawing on a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic theories and techniques. I am heavily influenced by mindfulness and the significance of context in understanding human behaviour and promoting mental health. I focus on helping my clients to identify the main problems causing their distress, in order to make sense of and work through them, move towards change and acceptance, and achieve their goals in therapy.
