About me
I have been actively involved in Pain management as a clinical speciality since 1988
I received my formal training in pain management for adults and children at
St. Bartholomew’s, Whipps Cross and Great Ormond Street Hospitals London.
I have worked as as a NHS consultant at Stoke Mandeville hospital (Bucks Hospitals Trust) since 1996, where I am senior clinician of a multi-disciplinary pain clinic. Staff consists of myself, a trust grade specialist, specialist chronic pain nurses and a clinical psychologist. Physiotherapists and occupational therapists attend the clinic as required on an individual patient basis. There are both outpatient and day-case interventional procedure sessions. General Practioners, trainee Anaesthetists and other specialists attend for formal training.
We have close links and regular monthly meetings with the Palliative Care team. I also see patients with pain conditions following spinal injury working together with my colleagues in the National Spinal Injuries Centre
