About me

As an integrative counsellor I combine theoretical approaches .... Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Solution Focused, Mindfulness .... using methods as they are best suited to each client, and to the presenting problem.
I have worked extensively counselling those in the public, private, and University sectors (32 years). This has been both short and longer term therapy. I have supervised trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists for 30 years.

I offer counselling/psychotherapy and counselling supervision. Online sessions are available as well as telephone. Face to face in person sessions are no longer available due to the current situation regarding coronavirus.

Online counselling sessions and online counselling supervision take place via secure platforms Zoom for Telehealth, VSee, Doxy.me, Signal, FaceTime, or Protonmail, as you prefer. Telephone counselling, and telephone counselling supervision, are via a dedicated telephone line. I call you at our designated time ... there is no call cost for yourself, and calls are not recorded.

Zoom for Telehealth - free video and instant message available through an easy to use downloadable app or via the web based desktop site. A secure application that is end to end encrypted and is HIPAA compliant.
VSee - free telehealth video or instant message available through an easy to use downloadable app or via the web based desktop site. A secure application that is fully encrypted to a high standard and is HIPAA compliant.
Doxy.me - free telehealth video available through an easy to use downloadable web based desktop site. A secure application that is fully encrypted to a high standard and is HIPAA compliant.
Signal - free instant message, video, and audio calls are end-to-end encrypted, and only read or heard by the intended recipients. Signal themselves do not have access to the contents. An easy to use downloadable app or via the web based desktop site.
FaceTime - free video or audio platform. End to end encrypted.
Protonmail - free secure encrypted email, via easy to use downloadable app or web based desktop site. Zero access architecture means that your messages are encrypted in a way that makes them inaccessible to even Protonmail. End to end encryption is enabled when both participants use ProtonMail.

Following a first career in a therapeutic context from 1977, I qualified as a counsellor in 1992. Counsellor and supervisor accreditations with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) were achieved in 1997 and 2002 respectively. Senior accreditation as counsellor/psychotherapist and supervisor followed in 2002 and 2007 respectively. I am a Senior NCPS Registrant & Supervisor and an ACTO Level 3 Senior Professional Member & Supervisor. I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and it’s Supplementary Guidance: Working Online (GPiA 047), and the ACTO & NCPS Codes of Ethics, and provide confidentiality within these guidelines.

Training has included Person Centred Counselling (PGDipCouns), Psychodynamic Counselling (MACouns.Psychol.), Online - Dip.Online Couns.(Distinction) & Dip.Online Supervision (Distinction), IGA Groupwork Introduction, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (WPF), EMDR, EFT, and Mindfulness studies. Additionally ongoing CPD (continual professional development) takes place as part of my accreditation requirements and in the interests of good practice.
