Born in Malta; moved to London to study Medicine at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine and trained in Haematology at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, St Thomas' Hospital, London, and completed my specialty training at Southampton University Hospitals and Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
