About me
Caryn is a specialist hand therapist and occupational therapist. She graduated with an honours degree from the University of Cape Town in 2004. She has experience working in various NHS hospitals and the private sector, providing her with a range of clinical skills in assessment and treatment of various acquired and traumatic hand conditions. Her experience includes conservative and post-operative management of carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, Dupuytren’s disease, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, complex regional pain syndrome, fractures, ligament injuries and tendon injuries. She also has a particular interest in hypermobility and how it affects hand function, and has experience measuring for silver ring splints.
Caryn was involved in the one-stop carpal tunnel clinic run at Charing Cross Hospital where she administered NeuroMetrix nerve conduction tests and provided a pre- and post-operative hand therapy service to patients undergoing carpal tunnel release.
She obtained a Master of Research in Clinical Practice degree in 2012 through the University of London. She completed her thesis on patients’ expectations, experiences and the determinants of satisfaction following MCP joint arthroplasty. She presented her research findings at regional and national hand therapy conferences and her results were published in a peer-reviewed journal.
Caryn is passionate about working closely with her patients to discuss expectations and work towards individualised functional goals to gain excellent clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
