About me
Miss Tressa Amir is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder, elbow, and upper limb conditions. She has particular expertise in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery for rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability and dislocations, and in shoulder joint replacement for arthritis, including anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement. She is a member of the ODEP panel for shoulder replacement implants.
She was appointed a Wellcome Trust Fellow in 2013 and has published and presented internationally on shoulder replacement and rotator cuff�sparing surgical techniques.
Miss Amir trained at the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London and completed her specialist orthopaedic training in London, followed by an advanced UK fellowship in shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand surgery.
She is on the GMC Specialist Register for Orthopaedic Surgery, is a member of the British Shoulder and Elbow Society, and is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. She holds national leadership roles in surgical education and currently serves as Chair of the AO Principles Course for the UK and Ireland and as a member of the AO UK & Ireland Board. She places strong emphasis on clear communication, ensuring patients have the information and understanding they need to make informed decisions about their treatment.
