About me
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, qualified since 2006. I trained and worked in the NHS for 16 years before leaving in July 2016 to focus on my private work and to take up a part-time academic post. For the last seven years of my time in the NHS I held a Senior Clinical Psychologist post which involved setting up and managing part of a service, supervising junior colleagues and trainees, teaching on the training courses and developing research programmes, as well as seeing clients. As a senior therapist the clients I worked with usually had longstanding and complex psychological difficulties. I bring this set of skills and experience to my private work, which takes place in my own practice in SW17.
I work with adults with a range of difficulties. Over time I have found that I work best using a psychodynamic psychotherapy approach, which means working together to make sense of difficulties. Most people find that once they have a better understanding of their concerns it opens up options for moving forward. It also reduces the often painful and repetitive cycles of behaviour we can find ourselves in.
As well as my private practice I work part time at CPU London, an independent charitable organisation providing free or low-cost psychotherapy to those less able to access the private sector.
I am registered with the BPS (Membership no: 456123) and HCPC (Registration no. PYL17582).
