About me

Dr Tracy Lavis holds two doctorates and the rare distinction of dual HCPC registration in both Forensic and Counselling Psychology a combination held by very few practitioners in the UK. With over 20 years of clinical experience, she is a trauma specialist with advanced training in EMDR as an Europe Accredited Therapist, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and trauma-focused CBT, with particular expertise in complex PTSD and occupational trauma.
Holding high-level security clearance, Dr Lavis works with professionals in roles requiring enhanced vetting, and has extensive experience supporting judges, lawyers, accountants, police officers, emergency services personnel, and healthcare workers. Based in central Worcester with a national practice, clients travel from across the UK for face-to-face sessions, with online appointments also available.
Her treatment approach is evidence-based and integrative, drawing on EMDR, CBT, ACT, clinical hypnotherapy, biofeedback, and neurofeedback. She is known for her warm, straight-talking style creating conditions where motivated individuals can do meaningful therapeutic work without judgement, at a pace that works for them. For many, it is simply a space to be heard by someone who takes them seriously. She has particular experience working with neurodivergent professionals, including those with a formal diagnosis and those exploring whether their profile may be neurodivergent.
She also works with individuals experiencing burnout and overwhelm those who may not yet have the words for what they are going through, but know that something needs to change.
Specialist programmes include intensive therapy, trauma-related sleep disorders and nightmares, and tailored support for shift workers and emergency services personnel managing critical incident exposure. Dr Lavis also provides medico-legal assessments, court reports, clinical supervision, and workplace training in trauma-informed resilience.
Whilst she has particular expertise working with professional and occupational groups, Dr Lavis welcomes anyone who values a direct, evidence-based approach and simply wants to get on with the work.
