About me
Mr Neil De Zoysa is a Consultant Ear, Nose, Throat and Thyroid Surgeon who works in Poole hospital. In his undergraduate and postgraduate training, he has won a number of prestigious academic prizes.
He undertook specialist training at some of the most renowned hospitals in London and Australia where he developed a comprehensive range of specialist skills and expertise in the management of adult and children’s Ear, Nose and Throat conditions. His Practice represents a combination of up to date thinking with a versatile and precise surgical technique underpinned by a personable approach.
In his dedicated ENT Consulting Suite, he runs a weekly Ear Clinic for the management of hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness and ear infections. This includes comprehensive hearing testing (including bone conduction and masking for an accurate and reliable result).
Mr De Zoysa’s international training has provided him with skills of minimal access or ‘keyhole’ techniques. This allows patients to experience less pain and enjoy a shorter recovery time with minimal blood loss. These include the use of endoscopes, lasers, microscopes and robotics.
He has a special interest and expertise in the management of patients complaining of nasal symptoms such as blockage and catarrh. He has also developed his skills the treatment of sinus disorders which includes diagnosis, medical treatment, and when needed, an ability to perform advanced sinus surgery.
As a qualified Head and Neck Surgeon Mr De Zoysa has significant experience in the early diagnosis and prevention of Head and Neck cancer, with a special interest in the throat and voice box where patients can present with change in their voice and a feeling of a lump in their throat. He has specialist skills in the management of thyroid and other neck conditions such as the salivary glands. He uses advanced energy devices to minimise blood loss and neuromonitoring to protect important nerves.
Mr De Zoysa has a comprehensive experience in children’s ENT which allows him to use specialist coblation surgery in selected cases for tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy with less pain and bleeding than traditional methods. He can also use this technique to treat tonsil stones and snoring.
