About me

Dr Piyush Jain, Consultant Cardiologist, currently works within the West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He has held his current NHS post since 2017. Since March 2025, he is also the lead cardiologist for the department; having been the departmental Lead for Echo since 2017.

He is highly specialised in all aspects of cardiology, with a special interest in advanced imaging (Echo, stress echo, Transoesophageal echo and cardiac CT).

He also sees patients in a private setting at Spire Bushey and Harpenden, HCA Wellington, Elstree Waterfront centre, and OSD healthcare

He completed his core medical training through the North London rotation, which included the Royal Brompton and Harefield Trusts as well the Barnet and Chase Farm hospitals, obtaining MRCP in 2010 and was elected a fellow of the royal college of physicians in 2026.

He pursued an MD (Research) at Imperial College London, which was awarded in 2015. This was as a part of a large population-based study and involved Cardiac CT, Nuclear myocardial perfusion imaging and echocardiography. The work was supported by the prestigious Dorothy Hodgkin Post Graduate award (Research Council UK).
His initial cardiology training including advanced imaging was at Harefield Hospital, Trusts as an imaging fellow before moving to the East of England deanery for SpR training. His training was at busy District General Hospitals before moving to the high- volume Essex cardiothoracic centre, for advanced imaging including stress echo (for ischemia and dynamic valve studies) as well as Trans-oesophageal echo and Cardiac CT. He also obtained training in pacemaker implantation during this time.
