About me

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over fifteen years experience of offering therapy to clients who want to make changes to how they feel and act in their lives, including difficulties such as depression, anxiety (e.g. social anxiety, phobias, panic, OCD), work related stress and burnout, relationship problems, self-esteem difficulties, bereavement, sexual problems, living with long term health problems and brain injury adjustment and rehabilitation.

This experience enables the people that I work with to feel confident that I can understand and work with them towards improving their situation so that they can lead more fulfilling and successful lives. I am approachable and supportive and provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment in which to work towards the goals they identify.

As a Clinical Psychologist I am qualified to post-doctoral level and have trained in a number of evidence-based approaches rather than one model of therapy. I practice traditional and more contemporary forms of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and other Mindfulness based approaches. I use other approaches to inform my practice, such as Systemic/Family Therapy approaches, Compassion-Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy) which has an extensive evidence base for PTSD and can be used for other difficulties such as depression and anxiety.

This background and training means that I can tailor the therapy/therapies to the clients that I work with so that there is a 'best fit' for each person.

Please feel free to contact me and we can arrange an initial telephone conversation to talk about what you would like to get from therapy and to help you to decide if you would like to arrange an initial session.
