About me
Hello! I'm Mr Kasbekar, and I'm a Consultant in ear, nose, and throat problems for people of all ages; from tiny babies to grown-ups. With more than 20 years of ENT experience, I love helping patients feel better and get back to enjoying life without pain, hearing issues or breathing troubles.
Many other ENT doctors send their trickiest cases to me for a second opinion or more complex treatment, including professional athletes and musicians who need reliable care to keep performing at their best.
*What I can help with*
I treat a wide range of common and more challenging issues, such as:
- Snoring & sleep issues especially in children
- Ear problems (infections, glue ear, hearing loss, tinnitus/ringing in the ears, dizziness & balance issues)
- Nose & sinus troubles (blocked nose, allergies, sinus infections)
- Throat & tonsil / adenoid concerns (sore throats, tonsillitis, large tonsils)
- Hearing implants & advanced ear conditions
I have a special interest and extra training in children's ENT problems as well as (adult & children's) ear and hearing problems, including complex ear surgery, balance disorders & neurotology (the study of ear-related nerve issues).
*My background and training*
I trained in medicine at the University of Nottingham, then did my specialist ENT training across top centres in London, Cambridge, Glasgow, and Liverpool. This included a full year at the famous Alder Hey Children's Hospital focusing on children's complex ENT surgery.
To gain even more expertise, I did advanced training visits to:
- Stanford University in California
- The House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles
- A specialist centre in Nijmegen, Netherlands (for complex ear surgery)
I also completed an extra year-long fellowship at the world-renowned Ear & Skull Base unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, specialising in hearing implants, chronic ear conditions, balance problems, and related nerve issues.
*Research, teaching, and staying up-to-date*
I'm passionate about improving care through research and teaching. I earned a Doctorate in Medicine from Cambridge University (in partnership with the Medical Research Council) and won the Royal Society of Medicine research award in 2008. Today, my research happens at the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre. I've published over 40 articles in medical journals to help advance better treatments.
I hold an Honorary Assistant Professor role at the University of Nottingham, where I supervise students (including PhD and masters levels) and examine them. For five years, I was the East Midlands Director for ENT surgical trainingoverseeing the training of future consultant ENT surgeons across Nottingham, Derby, and Leicester to ensure high standards of safe, excellent care. I still run training courses for doctors, including a unique one on "Human Factors" to prevent errors in emergencies, and I speak at national and international conferences.
*Giving back*
Helping people beyond the clinic is important to me. I founded Nottingham Ears, a charity that improves ear, nose, and throat care in the UK and in developing countries. I've taken part in ear camps in rural Nepal with the International Nepal Fellowshipexperiences that remind me why I do this work.
*A bit about me*
Outside work, I love spending time with my young family and staying active with tennis, golf, & cricket.
Patients often say they appreciate my clear explanations, kind approach (especially with children), and focus on finding the right plan for themwhether that's simple advice, medication, or a procedure. You can see public feedback and my own results on my website: www.NottinghamENT.co.uk (happy to share more details on request).
If you're worried about an ear, nose, throat, hearing, balance, or snoring issue for yourself or your child, I'd be glad to help. Feel free to get in touchI'm here to listen and support you every step of the way!
