About me

Life can be tough for a variety of reasons. We can be haunted by events from the past, struggling to cope with transitions in life (education, work, relationships, retirement, redundancy), overwhelmed by the pressure of caring for children or parents, exhausted from illness (ours or that of a loved one) or laid low by feelings of depression or anxiety.

I believe that by offering a safe, empathic and compassionate space we can work together to make sense of your experience, help to develop your insight, identify coping strategies and offer new perspectives. I am proactive in sessions, use different theories, psychoeducation and mindfulness to support the work.

I am an experienced BACP accredited counsellor and have the IAPT Counselling for Depression qualification. Over the last 16 years I have worked locally in GP surgeries, secondary schools, bereavement charities and family support. I am also a Clinical Manager for a local counselling organisation. I have experience in working with depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm, retirement anxiety, low self-esteem, exam/work stress, relationship issues (including parenting issues), bereavement, anger, bullying, abuse, and chronic health issues.

I work with individuals, and young adults from diverse ethnic backgrounds and sexuality, as well as across age ranges and have worked with people from age 16 upwards.
