About me

Mr Anjum Rashid works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at James Cook University Hospital Middlesbrough. He has undertaken extensive Fellowship Training in Foot and Ankle Surgery in London and Newcastle. His practice involves all aspects of Foot and Ankle Surgery including primary and revision ankle replacement procedures, ankle arthroscopy, small joint arthroscopy and tendinoscopy. He manages bunions, toe deformities, arthritis of foot and ankle, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon disorders, flat feet, cavo-varus feet and other foot and ankle deformities. He has special interest in the management of foot and ankle sports injuries and minimally invasive surgery. He manages diabetic foot conditions and also uses circular frame where necessary in the treatment of foot and ankle disorders.

In his practice, in addition to the elective work, he also deals with routine and complex foot and ankle injuries and fractures. During his training at some of the excellent trauma and orthopaedic units in the UK he has gained an in-depth knowledge of the management of various musculoskeletal injuries and diseases. This has also given him an opportunity of using the most modern equipment, state of the art prostheses and reliable techniques for trauma and elective foot and ankle surgery.

He uses a full array of orthopaedic fixation materials, including plates, intramedullary nails, and monolateral and circular fixators, artificial ligaments and suture anchors in the treatment acute fractures, non-unions and for the correction of deformities. He likes teaching and training juniors and for this purpose he has received appropriate training. He is heavily involved in clinical governance activities like audit and research.

He enjoys the challenges presented by his work and is enthusiastic about keeping his professional knowledge up to date. He is committed to helping patients with their health and
to support them achieve an active, pain-free lifestyle. He ensures that his patients are kept well informed about their conditions and the treatment options available to them.
