About me
'No one else has facilitated me to develop such a deep understanding of my motivations, past traumas, and sense of self like Stephanie has - and no-one else has helped me put these learnings and experiences into skills and approaches that help me live my life without being on medication' ~ Client
Hi, my name is Stephanie, aka The Yoga Psychologist, and I am a fully qualified Clinical Psychologist and Yoga Therapist, with over 16 years experience of working in mental health settings with people of all ages across the lifespan, from a diverse range of socio-cultural and economical backgrounds.
I work with high-achieving aspiring women who are struggling with a variety of life's challenges, including feeling overwhelmed, stressed and burnt out, dysregulated and disconnected, highly perfectionist and over-performing, self-critical with a lack of inner self-compassion, struggling with body image and eating issues, feeling lost and lonely in relationships, or moving through grief.
At the heart of any of these issues are the old and deep wounds that our bodies have carried, often from attachment issues or experiences of trauma; Yoga Psychology can heal all parts of you so that you have a calm mind, strong body and open heart!
My approach is integrated, humanistic & holistic, offering person-centred therapy, from evidence-based modalities in Clinical Psychology, Yoga Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Somatic IFS, with applied and integrated holistic practices including polyvagal exercises, breathwork, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT i.e. 'tapping'), for mind-body healing
I appreciate working with all aspects of diversity & advocate for inclusivity & equality, welcoming every human being into therapeutic spaces. Self reflection and reflexivity are important to me and support a positive and mindful therapist-client relationship. I am inspired by social action, encouraging Yoga Psychology to advance healing & wellbeing.
Therapy sessions have the potential to be life changing by overcoming emotional, mental and/or physical health difficulties, empowering you to untangle from life's toxicities and challenges, and reconnect and rediscover yourself. All therapy sessions are conducted within a warm, safe and nurturing therapeutic relationship.
Psychological therapy involves exploring one's life story, the current difficulties and their contexts, making sense of the difficulties together, identifying what you would like help and support with, defining individualised goals, applying specialist therapeutic interventions to help transform, heal and make change, with regular review of progress.
Yoga Therapy is the science of applying yoga to overcome health difficulties, integrating mind, body, emotional and spiritual influences through breathing techniques, embodied movement, yoga postures, meditation, mindfulness-based approaches and lifestyle guidance. Yoga therapy is appropriate for people of all levels & abilities.
