About me

I started my professional career as a mental health nurse (RMNH) 30 years ago with experience of working with people with emotional and psychological difficulties in a variety of NHS mental health settings including inpatient and forensic settings and community based services.

My psychotherapy career started in 2008 training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and later in eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR) which are recommended by NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) for the treatment of depression, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety problems. I have been a fully accredited CBT Therapist since 2010. I have worked as a psychotherapist both in primary, secondary care services and specialist services. I have held a number of psychotherapist roles including; working in a community mental health team (CMHT) offering both CBT and EMDR for clients experiencing complex PTSD and developmental trauma and in an NHS complex treatment service for military veterans across the Yorkshire region. In 2022 I worked with Police Care UK/Police Treatment Centre as part of a small trauma therapy team offering an intensive residential trauma treatment programme (pilot) for serving police officers with complex PTSD. This was the first of its kind in the UK.?
??I am an accredited EMDR Consultant (EMDR Europe) and Trauma Psychotherapist which indicates I have undertaken extensive additional training, rigorous supervision and safe and competent practice with complex presentations.
