About me
As a qualified and experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist, I am passionate about the healing power of counselling and psychotherapy, as well as the capacity of the human psyche to heal, develop and grow. This belief, coupled with my training and experience, underpins my clinical work
If you are feeling stuck; find yourself repeating patterns; feeling confused; lacking a sense of direction or needing an emotional sounding board, then counselling or psychotherapy can be of enormous benefit. The process of therapy can help to make sense of your feelings, heal emotional wounds of the past, to help clarify your thoughts, to make sense of yourself and your place in the world and understand how you relate to others and much more. I am able to help with many underlying causes of emotional pain, anxiety, depression and challenging life situations.
My approach is integrative, which means I draw on several different theoretical approaches to support my work. I also work in a client centred (or humanistic) way which means that I work differently with everyone because each person and their needs and experiences are unique.
I am especially interested in psychophysiological disorders and the mind/body connection, in both the presenting physical symptoms and how the body can be used as a tool to bring about change and healing.
My most substantial training (integrative) was an MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling at Regent’s College in London. My initial training was psychodynamic with the CCC (Cambridgeshire Consultancy in Counselling).
I have also trained in: CBT for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Trauma; Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Health and Well-being; Brief short term work. I am currently undertaking Babette Rothschild's, Somatic Trauma Therapy Training.
Each year I undertake Continuing Professional Development.
I am an accredited member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I have experience and knowledge of the 12 step programme of recovery. I have also been trained and have worked with a National Bereavement Support Charity.
I am fully insured and have an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
