About me

Dr Odeyemi joined Priory Group in August 2016 as a consultant general adult psychiatrist at Priory Hospital Woodbourne, in Birmingham.

He is the consultant and clinical lead for the psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) for young adults aged 18-25 years old. Dr Odeyemi also looks after patients in the general adult acute ward for young adults.

Dr Odeyemi was the acting medical director of Priory Hospital Woodbourne from October 2017 to January 2018. He also deputises in the absence of the medical director.

Dr Odeyemi is the medical education lead at Priory Hospital Woodbourne, organising the local education meetings for colleagues and staff at the hospital.

About me

Research interests

Dr Odeyemi's area of research is mainly around improving mental health awareness and reducing stigma. This was the subject of his dissertation for his Master of Public Health degree, from the University of Leeds.

He was also part of the team that sought to raise awareness of the importance of dental care for patients in a residential rehabilitation mental health facility.

More recently, he has been involved in the selection and recruitment of subjects for research projects, such as:

Lamotrigine and borderline personality disorder: investigating long-term effectiveness (LABILE) study
Investigation of co-ordination of brain activity during a target detection task in healthy individuals and people with psychosis imaging study
Diffusion tensor imaging study

Personal interests

Dr Odeyemi has a keen interest in Jazz music. He enjoys astronomy, classical literature and poetry.

Member of the National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (NAPICU), contributing to the development and improvements of standards within PICUs.
Part of several committees looking into the continuous improvement of standards within the PICU, underpinned by the consistent search for least restrictive practice and patient-centred care. Dr Odeyemi has previously also been an active peer reviewer for the Royal College of Psychiatrist’s Electroconvulsive Therapy Accreditation Service.
