About me
I have dual qualifications in General and Psychiatric nursing, I did my counselling training at Durham University where I achieved am MA in Counselling.
I have particular expertise and experience in the following areas: depression, anxiety, bereavement/loss (this is the area I chose to use as my research whilst doing my MA) and issues around food. I have experience of the CBT model and have used it where I felt it appropriate with clients. I also have some experience in facilitating relaxation/meditation with individuals who are interested in learning something of these techniques.
My approach in counselling sets at its core a solid therapeutic relationship. To empower a person in telling their own story is an opportunity for that person to regain their own sense of self, to move forwards and to create positive change.
